Not much details are out regarding Obey’s (Shepard Fairey) new Elephant Print. His recent work is more focused on the current political situation and the march towards peace. This print will drop on April 9th at a random time at Obey’s on-line store.
This large format print series was created to commemorate the 20 year anniversary of OBEY. The series was first released in Feb but only to a selected few for the opening of Shepard’s 20 year Retrospective at the ICA Boston. Shepard chose to revisit these images, from the 98 - 2000 era, due to their popularity but adding a more refined look to them with the replace of the OBEY Orange for a Metallic Gold. This fine art print series will go sale on 4/2/09 at noon. The series will initially go on sale only as a set with a few individual prints sold separately later in the day.

Bad Brains, one of the most well-known punk/hardcore groups of all time, gets Obey’d by way of photographer Glen E. Friedman. The Friedman shot of Bad Brains gets reworked with Shepard Fairey’s artful touch in this 3 color screen print. This poster will be signed by Glen Friedman, Shepard Fairey, and all the original members of Bad Brains. There will be 425 available on 3/26/09 for $120.
Cancer has affected all of our lives in one way or another. Lance Armstrong asked Shepard Fairey to participate in his “Stages” art exhibition and create a mural for the side of the Montalban Theater in Hollywood. The exhibition was developed by Nike to illustrate Livestrong’s expanded global outreach in the fight against cancer and as a means of engaging the creative community in the shared struggle. Mr. Brainwash has been churning out some hits lately and coming up next is two new prints - Jackson Pollock and 33rd St. The Jackson Pollock print comes out on March 11th with a limited run of 40 with each uniquely different. The interesing 33rd St. Print has some interesing imagry in the back that might shed some light on the mystery of who this Mr. Brainwash really is. That one drops on March 18th.
