A couple of months ago Shepard Fairey (Obey) was approached by Penguin Books (UK) to do his take on the cover art for the literary classics, “1984″ and “Animal Farm.” The books with the covers were released and Penguin Books did a promotion selling the books with a cover art print set. These prints were only available in the UK, until now! Obey Giant will have the print set available in a very limited quantity. The print set will be released on 12/31 between noon and 3pm. They are offset prints, and are A2 in size (about 17″ x 24″), Edition of 200, signed/numbered and the set will be $140, limited to 1 set per person/household. The mysterious Mr. Brainwash has unleashed his latest print, “Love is the Answer”. It features Albert Einstien and the slogan on the sign. Comes in two editions - Edition of 50, including the artist signature on front and signature and thumb print on back with 40 available for sale and an Edition of 300, numbered & unsigned with 220 available. Monday, December 15th, Shepard Fairey (Obey) is releasing two new prints on his website. One is based on the flyer he created for the Art Basel 2008 event in Miami. The Rose Girl print is similar to Peace Guard print, so we are assuming that it is also collaboration with NYC-Based Photographer and Filmmaker Kai Regan. Good news is he gave a release time period of 1-3pm pst.
As the speculation builds behind the mysterious artist, Mr. Brainwash, more prints has found their way to his webstore with different price points and styles. Mr. Brainwash is rumored to be a collaboration between Banksy and Shepard Fairey supposedly set out to prove that people just follow names and not the real art.
