superfuture-x-self-edge-x-dry-bones-7

Superfuture, a website dedicated to the finer points of shopping, traveling, and garments.  This SEXDBXS09 jean dedicated to this special website, has been produced by Dry Bones, one of Japan’s longest running vintage Americana style denim manufacturers. Self Edge has chosen a denim with a little more weight than the classic styles, at 16oz it’s got heft to it, and with massive amounts of character showing from the warp and weft it’s sure to age well.  The fit is that of a straight leg jean, slightly slimmed down, with a button fly and a long inseam which can be hemmed to the wearer’s length without altering the silhouette.   Accents include hidden rivets, cowhide leather tag, Superfuture dual-tone “Rep Bar” stitch, military grade green rear pocket linings, coin pocket selvedge, and a cotton poly-core stitch.

The SEXDBXS09 will be released at Self Edge’s webstore under the Dry Bones brand at 8:30am (PST) on Saturday February 28th.  It will be released in-store at Noon the same day.

After ten years of producing the most intensely heavy weight jeans in the world, Iron Heart has introduced their first slim cut jean.  The 301S by Iron Heart is their newest flagship slim model with the silhouette designed by both Self Edge and Iron Heart; finally bringing their signature 21 ounce selvedge denim to a slim cut jean with a longer inseam than Iron Heart’s past models.  Due to the slim cut of the jean, there is no selvedge out-seam, but the denim itself is the usual 21oz selvedge denim that Iron Heart produces.  Also available is the 9301, a 22 ounce black denim version of the 301S with black stitch, black arcuates, black leather tag, and a red outseam inner stitch.  Available now at Self Edge

Real Blue Japan Kasuri Shirts

Kasuri is a Japanese textile technique that literally means “splashed pattern” and it is found in the warp or weft or both threads.  Indigo dye is used for kasuri as well as pigment dyes and discharge techniques, such as what is used on this shirt by Real Japan Blues. This weaving and dye technique is very labor intensive and unfortunately, in today’s Japan, only a few elderly weavers of this technique continue their textile artistry.  On the Black shirt the red print is from a Kasuri pattern while the white lines are painted on by hand with a discharge “ink” and on the Red shirt the black lines are from the Kasuri weave and the white lines are painted on by hand. Yes, we said painted on, by hand. Every line is a brushstroke.  Available now State-side at Self Edge.
