Celebrating the 5 years of the Charitable Doernbecher Project, Mark Smith will be designing the 5th anniversary sneaker. The chosen sneaker is the Air Max 90, featuring a white upper, orange accents and a multicolored sole. Other details include a laser-etched hand emblem and a patterned inner-lining. Nike kicks off their latest series of charity Doernbecher Freestyle shoes, designed by former patients of the Portland-based Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The first sneaker of five that we’ll be detailing is the Doernbecher Freestyle Air Jordan 1 High, designed by Tony Taylor Jr, or as his friends and family call him, Mr. Boober. The shoe is made with a gradient fading patent leather and is actually just two pieces, a first for the normally multi-paneled silhouette. After seeing teaser previews, we now get a more clear look at whats to come from Alife and Reebok with their “Designed In NYC” Collection. It’s packed with full canvas sneakers for both men and women. The men’s pack features the ERS 5000 in three colorways: White/Yellow, Grey/Blue and Black/Red. While the women’s pack features the Ventilator, the Pro Legacy Mid and the Freestyle High, featuring White, Grey and Black canvas uppers. All are available this Saturday, July 12th exclusively at all Alife locations next Saturday, July 19th. Limited edition matching tees will also drop at the same time.
Alife is constantly building their brand by collaborating with industry giants and in the weeks since their last with Saucony, they are now working with Reebok on a footwear collection that will have something for both men and women. The men collection will feature the ERS 5000 II model and the women collection features the Pro Legacy Mid, the Freestyle Hi and the Ventilator model with what looks to be all canvas uppers. During a party in New York last night, Shaq throw’s in a little Kobe (Bryant) diss during freestyling on the mic. It was all done in fun and games according to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.

And by the way, don’t forget, six albums, two platinum, two gold. Anybody who knows me knows I’m a funny freestyler. Check the NBA DVD when I was wrapping about Vlade Divac during my first championship run. Please tell everybody don’t make something out of nothing.”
