NIKEiD Refresh at NikeTown NY with New Styles and Materials

This weekend, Nike invited select media to come out to their NikeiD Refresh Preview Event at NikeTown NY. KATC was on hand for this small and intimate NikeiD Refresh preview that was an introduction to the new styles and materials that NIKEiD will offer in conjuntion with the Olympics. The theme of this round of NIKEiD updates is centered on Olympic Heros, each Hero represents a style and each Hero has their own material.  The NIKEiD Studio is located on the 5th floor of NikeTown NY and is open to the public by appointment only.

The list of Olympic Heros:

Athlete: Asafa Powell
Style: NIKE Dunk HI/LO
Asafa will be wearing a cheetah print shoe with the colors of the Jamaican flag and charms that have meaning to them. NIKEiD has incorpated this cheetah print into the builder and it will be offered on the Dunk Hi and Lo only.

Athlete: Paula Radcliffe
Style: NIKE CORTEZ
There will be an option for a stylized version of the Union Jack that is similar to the shoe she plans to compete in.

Athlete: Liu Xiang
Style: Air max 90
There will be an option for a laser graphic inspired by him that is also featured on the NIKE Windrunner made specifically for him.

Nike Olympic Mascots Pack - Fuwa

Nike is going to release a Olympic Mascots Pack in this month with 5 different sneakers (2 cortezs, a blazer low, a dunk low, & vandal low).  Each sneaker represents, Fuwa which is the natural characteristics of four of China’s most popular animals — the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow, as well as the Olympic Flame.  Each of Fuwa has a rhyming two-syllable name — a traditional way of expressing affection for children in China. Beibei is the Fish, Jingjing is the Panda, Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Nini is the Swallow.  When the names are put together -  Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni it says, “Welcome to Beijing”, welcoming the world to Beijing.   Unfortunately the pack is currently only in GS or Grade School sizes and is available now at kix-files
