Nike kicks off their latest series of charity Doernbecher Freestyle shoes, designed by former patients of the Portland-based Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. The first sneaker of five that we’ll be detailing is the Doernbecher Freestyle Air Jordan 1 High, designed by Tony Taylor Jr, or as his friends and family call him, Mr. Boober. The shoe is made with a gradient fading patent leather and is actually just two pieces, a first for the normally multi-paneled silhouette. Pictured are two interesting new mockups for the Air Jordan 1 Retro that will release late-January 2009. The first is the PHAT version that meshes the iconic colorway of the Jordan III complete with the elephant print.
