Stevenson Overall Company director, Mr. Zip Stevenson, 39 was fond of overalls since he was 4 years old and can clearly remember wanting to wear overalls as a first choice all they way through his early teens. When Stevenson started in the apparel business in 1992, he first traded in vintage indigo overalls supplying the Junkyard jeans store on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and eventually his own store the Denim Doctors a year later. When Stevenson started his belt company he found less and less opportunity to wear vintage overalls. But all along Stevenson remained very attracted to the work wear and basic utility clothing aesthetic. Attracted by all the variety and details on vintage work wear and overalls, when Stevenson discovered that there was a namesake company that had existed in America before the Great Depression he immediately contacted his friend and business associate Mr. Atsuske Tagaya about relaunching the brand in Japan and California.
